Issue #2 - Term 4, 2021

Dear Families,

We have made it to the end of the year, and you should all be proud of your child's achievements. This year, like last year, has had its ups and downs with COVID, but we have persisted and tried to carry on with the best interests of the children in mind.

It has been a big year with lots of changes happening around us. The new buildings are now both operational, all carparks are complete, and the new school playground will commence during the holidays.

Included in this eNews are some Important Dates for Term 1, but please keep a lookout in coming weeks for an email with the link to our 2022 Calendar and Parent Handbook. 

With a strong focus on student wellbeing, next year we will launch the Restorative Practices and Resilience Project at a Wine and Cheese night in Term 1 - Tuesday, 8th March (AGM). I will communicate further about other exciting initiatives taking place early in 2022.

We commence the year ahead with 19 straight classes, four of which are new Receptions! 

Sincere thanks for all of your support throughout the year. Working in partnership is what we are all about at St Francis, and we work hard to build these relationships. We are here for you, and most importantly, your children. We aim for each child to reach their potential and be thriving people, capable learners and leaders for the world God desires. 2022 promises to be a big year, so strap yourself in and get ready for another big year at SFX!

As occurs at this time every year, there is some staffing news to share. Outlined below are details of staff that are coming and going.

Further to our email of 2nd December, a reminder that Individual WELCOME CHATS for all families are being held in the week before school commences on ONE DAY ONLY – Tuesday, 25th January, 2022.

Bookings can be made via our online system – Parent Teacher Online (PTO). Please note that bookings open FROM Monday, 20th December, 2021.

The booking system can be accessed via the school's home page, and on the green bar top right you will find a link to “PTO – Parent Teacher Interviews”.

At our recent Assembly, Blair Boyer presented the 2021 Wright Volunteer of the Year Award to Melissa and Rob Teivans.

Melissa and Rob have been part of the SFX community for over 8 years, since their daughter, Charlotte began Reception in 2013. Charlotte is one of our graduating Year 6 students.

Melissa and Rob have been involved in numerous fundraising activities for the school over the years, including the Mad March Fair and Quiz Nights. They have both been integral members of the PCC, helping with Mother's and Father's Day stalls, sausage sizzles, Sports Day, along with many other events! They have always been happy and willing to help out wherever they can.

Melissa has also previously held the position of Chair of our PCC, and with Charlotte moving onto secondary school, retires this year as a School Board member.

Melissa and Rob are very worth recipients of this year's Award, and they will be greatly missed by everyone at SFX - congratulations!

Last Friday we celebrated St Francis Xavier's Feast Day in style. We started the day with a whole school Liturgy, followed by a condensed version of Sports Day, and culminating with our inaugural Colour Explosion Fun Run.

Thank you to our staff who have generously given up their time to support Fred’s Van this year. The staff at SFX volunteer every Wednesday of the month and support the Fred’s Van team by helping to prepare and serve food. The staff will continue to support Fred’s Van through the Christmas holidays and into 2022.
